When You Want to Know as Much as You Want to Breathe Socrates

A proud fellow came to Socrates request for wisdom. He walked upwards to him and said, "O peachy Socrates, I come to you for wisdom." Socrates, recognizing a pompous fool when he saw ane, led him down to the sea and took him chest deep into the water. Then he asked him, "What did you say you wanted?" "Wisdom, O great Socrates," said the young homo.

Socrates put his strong hands on the man's shoulders and pushed him under. 30 seconds later Socrates let him up. "What do you want?" he asked over again. "Wisdom," the young man sputtered, "O great and wise Socrates." Socrates pushed him nether over again. Thirty seconds, thirty-five, forty – then Socrates let him up. The man was gasping. "What exercise you want, young homo?"

Between heavy breaths the fellow wheezed, "Wisdom! O wise and wonderful…" Socrates jammed him nether again – forty seconds passed then l – then he let him up. "What do you want?" "Air!" the young man yelled. "I demand air!"  "When yous want wisdom equally much as yous accept only wanted air, and then you will brainstorm to find wisdom."

How important is wisdom to life?

Wisdom is as important to life as air is to a drowning human!

To get wisdom, you must become after it with desperation considering in the way are many obstacles keeping you from actually finding wisdom and applying it to life.

Wisdom is…

  • The ability to meet clearly and choose correctly the best course of activity
  • The application of knowledge and evaluated feel to every day life

Foolishness is…

  • selfishness
  • an unwillingness to listen to the communication of others
  • the inability to larn from experience (your ain or that of others)
  • disrespect
  • laziness
  • lack of date and  follow through in relationships
  • giving upwardly when the going gets tough

A wise man learns by the feel of others.
An ordinary man learns by his own experience.
A fool learns past nobody's experience

Seeking wisdom during recovery

The pursuit after wisdom is something I call back almost oftentimes –on a daily basis – every bit I try to figure out what the best form of action is for my life at this point in fourth dimension.

The challenge I'grand in the centre of right now is the journey of "getting dorsum to work" with my hours gradually increasing.  What makes this process challenging is two things: 1) the type of work I practice; and two) the fact that another surgery is coming in Oct when I'll stop working again for three months.

I need wisdom to meet clearly and cull carefully the best grade of action. Information technology involves finding meaningful projects and the right people to work with and aid (by coaching, mentoring, consulting, etc.) and exist able to leave that work backside for iii months when I get off-line in October.

It would be piece of cake for me to become paralyzed and just keep spinning my wheels. Instead, I'm pursuing wisdom equally I face up this work challenge considering I'yard not into piece of cake, I'm into having a meaningful and purposeful life!

What am I doing to pursue wisdom?

  • I'm reading to grow my knowledge and myself as a person
  • I'm listening to podcasts and webinars to grow my capacity to help others
  • I'm spending fourth dimension learning from wise people
  • I'k networking with people – with ears and eyes open for emerging opportunities
  • I'm praying for direction and help to figure this out
  • I'm committed to working the allotted hours required in productive ways
  • I'm reflecting on how I made it through hard transitions earlier
  • I'thousand riding an practise bicycle to get back into shape, experience better and grow stronger
  • I'g reminding myself of the habits necessary to do my piece of work effectively (Existence off piece of work for 2 years does have its challenges!)

So equally you tin meet – I'm endeavouring to run across clearly and cull correctly the best form of action by applying knowledge and evaluated feel to the choices I'k making. That for me is wisdom.

Why carp pursing wisdom?  Because with information technology comes inner peace, purposeful living and relationships that piece of work.  The fool has inner turmoil, a life lacking purpose, and relationships in disarray.

What are you doing to employ wisdom to your life?
What needs to change then y'all demonstrate greater agony for wisdom?
